Jack Manley - FLC Punk

The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jack Manley has released FLC Punk, a new single to be included in his forthcoming debut album, Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?, due out on November 19, 2026. The song is more than just a catchy Britpop track. Its acoustic melodies and gentle rhythms are disrupted by electric sounds and a noise effect that amplifies the singer‑songwriter’s broken voice and the bittersweet lyrics. Because in Manley’s work, not everything is as it seems.

“The song is me admitting that privilege doesn’t save you,” Manley explained.

In FLC Punk, the artist from Kingston, New York, confronts his youth at Fordham Lincoln Center (FLC), where he grew up in an elite environment that was nonetheless filled with anxiety, rebellion, and resentment. The song reflects that contradiction of having everything within reach and yet feeling lost.

“I wrote the first verse in class years ago and then left it alone. I remember feeling completely overwhelmed, surrounded by kids who had everything, and somehow we were all still a mess. It made me wonder what chance any of us really had,” he said. “FLC Punk is me calling myself out — how angry I was, how lost I felt, and how desperate I was to prove I didn’t belong. That I was somehow unique in my suffering. The song sits in that tension.”

This self-released single was produced by Jack Manley together with Jeffrey Berner, mixed by Berner, engineered by Shubham Mondal, and mastered by John Naclerio at Nada Studios (My Chemical Romance, Imagine Dragons).

Lyrics

Is it something that I should become
When I’m young, I feel young
I still got people left to care for
Is it something that you learn in school
To be cool, I feel cool
I bet those kids they got a trust fund
Well I know lots of people now
Can’t find their way back how
I’m I to make it out?

I’ll just wait for you
I’ll just wait for you
I’ll just wait for you
Not letting go
But at least I already know

Is it something that I should become
When I’m young, I feel young
I still got people left to care for
Is it something that you learn in school
To be cool, I feel cool
I bet those kids ain’t gonna trust none

I’ll just wait for you
I’ll just wait for you
I’ll just wait for you-
Not letting go of
The youth I used to know

I’ll just wait for you
I feel grateful too
I’ll just wait for you
Not letting go
But at least already know
