Robot Dog Funeral – Shelter

Robot Dog Funeral - Shelter

Robot Dog Funeral is back with the third single from their upcoming self-titled EP, set to be released barely a year after their debut album Dead Inside. The Swiss group, with an ambiguous aesthetic somewhere between new wave, punk, and post-punk, also ventures into various genres, including indie rock, punk, electronic, and ballads such as Shelter, their latest track released on November 28, 2025.

And while this hard and ethereal image may distance them from sentimental songs, deep down, the band has a tender side.

When the world is ending
Will it all change
Will you?

“The lyrics explore fear, love, and the sense of an approaching end – while seeking protection and comfort in someone familiar during these uncertain days,” Robot Dog Funeral explained.

Both in the sound of Shelter and in that of the two previous singles, Don’t Scream At Your Children and Icarus, one can feel the hand of producer Philippe Laffer (Alterna Recording Studios), highlighting the band’s energy. All members compose the songs, while vocalist Jonathan von Siebenthal is the author of the lyrics.

Robot Dog Funeral was formed in Solothurn in 2019 with von Siebenthal “Johnny 7” (vocals, bass), Jan Ziswiler “Zisi” (backing vocals, guitar), Martin Schaad “Dino” (synthesizers), and Jonas Meise “Johnny 0” (drums).

Lyrics

I’ve lost my track
Will you give me shelter
Will you?
And I can’t imagine
A life without you
Can you?
When the world is ending
Will it all change
Will you?
Or will it stay the same
Are we the ones to blame
Are you?

This feeling’s so right
With you I finally might
Get a chance to get through
‘Cause you are so nice to me
You are alive
You are just you
Yeah babe they lie to us
Yeah they act like robots
But I don’t care, do you?
Read me when I get stuck
Read me when I am fucked
Will you?

I’ve lost my track
Will you give me shelter
Will you?
And I can’t imagine
A life without you
Can you?
When the world is ending
Will it all change
Will you?
Or will it stay the same
Are we the ones to blame
Are you?
